Bomb Threat Shuts Down 6 Schools In Monterey County

KING CITY, Monterey Co. (CBS SF) -- Schools in the King City Union School District are closed Wednesday after a bomb threat, district officials said.

Police received reports Tuesday evening of a bomb threat for Chalone Peaks Middle School located at 667 Meyer St., school districts officials said on their website.

All the district's campuses were shut down Wednesday as a precaution.

The schools are Chalone Peaks, Phoenix Academy, Del Rey Elementary School, Santa Lucia Elementary School, King City Arts Magnet School and the Early Childhood Center, district officials said.

Investigators have not found suspicious materials as of Wednesday morning, according to district officials.

There are about 2,600 students enrolled within the district. The schools are expected to resume classes Thursday, district officials said.
