Bomb Squad Detonates Grenades Found At San Leandro Dump

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) - San Leandro police and the Alameda County sheriff's bomb squad were able to recover two grenades found earlier this week at a garbage collection facility.

Officers responded at about 3:50 p.m. Monday to a report that two grenades were found at Alameda County Industries, located at 610 Aladdin Ave., police said.

Police said that responding officers determined that the grenades were real and called in the assistance of the sheriff's bomb squad.

Deputies confirmed the authenticity of the grenades and noted they were also possibly active. The bomb squad recovered the grenades and transported them away from the site for disposal, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
