Body Of Missing Father Of Bride Found In Sacramento Delta

SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- Northern California authorities say they have recovered the body in a waterway of an Indian man in the United States for his daughter's wedding.

The Sacramento County coroner reported that the 55-year-old man's body was found in a Sacramento Delta slough on Monday. Prasad Moparti disappeared hours after his daughter's wedding on Feb. 13 during the ceremony's reception at a Delta resort.

Family members say they saw the man walk away from the Grand Island Mansion. Relatives say Moparti arrived in California from southern India in January and was unfamiliar with the area.

Moparti appeared smiling in photos taken during the reception, but his daughter told CBS 13 Sacramento that her father seemed troubled after arriving from India.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies, K-9 officers and relatives searched the area around the Grand Island Mansion while dive crews searched the waterways.

Authorities suspended the air, land and water search for Moparti after three days.

Investigators considered Moparti's disappearance voluntary and don't suspect foul play. A cause of death hasn't been determined.
