UPDATE: Man Found Shot Dead At Fremont Apartment Complex; Suspect Sought

FREMONT (CBS SF) -- One person was killed in a shooting in Fremont, which prompted a SWAT team response at an apartment complex overnight.

Fremont police said officers responded at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a shooting at the Mosaic Apartments on the 39000 block of Fremont Blvd. near Stevenson Blvd. A man was suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, police said.

Officers in tactical gear surrounded the complex and officers established a perimeter. Outside law enforcement agencies provided drone and K9 support during the search. Investigators remained on the scene as of 8:30 a.m. this morning.

The Alameda County Coroner responded and will be investigating the identity of the victim. It was the first reported homicide in Fremont in 2021.
