Binge-Watching Linked To Loneliness, Depression, Obesity

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Binge watching your favorite shows online can cause feelings of loneliness and depression.

Researchers Yoon Hi Sung, Wei-Na Lee, and Eun Yeon Kang from the University of Texas at Austin presented their findings to a conference in Puerto Rico after surveying three hundred people about their TV watching habits, and how often they felt lonely or depressed.

The researchers found the more depressed people were, the more likely they were to binge watch TV shows like those on Netflix.

The researchers said binge watching can also lead to obesity, and people neglecting their work.
