Bikers Pull Stunts On Golden Gate Bridge During Fleet Week

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- A group of dozens of bikers pulled stunts and wheelies during a sideshow on the Golden Gate Bridge Saturday, bringing heavy Fleet Week traffic to a halt.

The sideshow involved dirt bikes and sport bikes popping wheelies just after the Blue Angels took to the skies.

The riders first took to the northbound lanes before turning around to head south on the bridge, stopping traffic on both sides.

"The Golden Gate Bridge is not a playground. It's a vital part of the Bay Area infrastructure, and these motorcyclists put dozens of drivers who are in the immediate vicinity in danger," Bridge Spokesperson Priya Clemens said.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which was not the only sideshow in the Bay Area this weekend.

Another sideshow took place on the Bay Bridge. In that incident, some of the motorcyclists involved crashed into each other. One person was cited in that incident.
