Crews Douse Big-Rig Fire Burning On I-880 Connector

EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) -- Fire units are mopping up after responding to big-rig fire burning on the I-880 connector in Emeryville near the I-80 connector Friday afternoon.

The fire was first reported shortly before 1 p.m.

A Sigalert was issued alerting drivers that the northbound I-880 ramp to E-80 was closed due to the truck fire and fuel spill. Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes.

Firefighters at the scene appeared to have the fire under control as of 1:15 p.m.

UPDATE Firefighters appear to have a big-rig fire on the northbound I-880 connector to I-80 under control, but there has been no word as to when the connector will reopen.
