Lanes Reopen Following Big Rig Crash That Blocked Westbound Traffic On Bay Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- All westbound lanes of the Bay Bridge reopened late Thursday night after a big rig overturned just east of Treasure Island, possibly due to strong winds.

CHECK CURRENT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS

The incident was first reported at 8:24 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The big rig landed on its side, blocking all westbound lanes. No other vehicles were involved, CHP officials said.

The big rig may have overturned due to high winds caused by a storm that arrived in the Bay Area Thursday evening, according to Oakland fire officials.

Information about the condition of the driver of the big rig was not immediately available.
