Big-Rig Spills Lumber On I-80 In Berkeley Causing Major Delays

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol has issued a Sig-alert for westbound Interstate Highway 80 just west of University Avenue in Berkeley Tuesday morning.

CHP issued the alert at 6:13 a.m. after a big-rig hit a pothole and spilled lumber onto the highway. One lane of the highway and one lane of Frontage Road to the right of the highway are blocked.

CHP does not have en estimate of when the lanes will reopen.

Caltrans is reporting traffic delays up to two hours in the area.
