Bay Area Woman Killed In Texas Shooting

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- A Bay Area woman was killed when a gunman opened fire in Austin Texas, according to family members.

Teqnika Moultrie of San Carlos was visiting Austin with her fiancée when gunfire erupted around 2 a.m. Sunday in the city's busy downtown entertainment district.

The shooting began as bars in the area were closing, and people were spilling out onto the streets.

Teqnika's family described her as a happy person.

"When she smiled, she was the life of the party. If people were being debbie-downers, she could bring you right back up," her older brother Ricky Moultrie said via Skype.

Ricky says the two grew up on the peninsula and she loved the outdoors. Teqnika drove a school bus for Sequioa Union High School District, and shared a home in San Carlos with her fiance.

The pair were looking forward to getting married in September.

Three other victims were expected to survive.

Police were investigating the shooting.
