Bay Area Commute Dubbed 'Most Predictable' In The Nation
(CBS SF) -- Bay Area traffic may be rough, but at least it's expected.
A new study suggests the Bay Area has the most predictable freeway commute times, among the largest metro areas in the U.S. Philadelphia and Houston came in as second and the third as the the most predictable regions. Washington D.C. had the least predictable commute times out of the 10 regions included in the study followed by New York City and Los Angeles.
The study takes data from 2011 and reports since then that the Bay Area has had slightly shorter commute times than other regions.
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission says that means the traffic is somewhat consistent, day to day, for better or worse.
But the morning commute along southbound State Route 242 in northern Contra Costa County and the Interstate 580 interchange in Albany are among commutes that stand out as the most unreliable in the Bay Area.
