Bay Area Bike Share Expanding Into East Bay With 1,500 Bikes

OAKLAND (KCBS) -- Bay Area Bike Share is planning a major expansion that will eventually add 1,500 bikes and 117 stations in the East Bay.

The first 34 stations will be built in Oakland, Emeryville and Berkeley's city centers.

Transportation officials announced the expansion locations of the stations Monday, which were chosen based on input from residents.

Bay Area Bike Share is three years old. Right now, it has 700 bikes in San Francisco, San Jose, Redwood City, Palo Alto and Mountain View.

Oakland
