Ashby BART Station In Berkeley Reopens After Train Kills Person On Tracks

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- Bay Area Rapid Transit's Ashby station in Berkeley was reopened Monday afternoon after being shut down for hours following a fatal collision between a train and a person on the tracks.

BART said the incident happened at 12:24 p.m. and shut down service at the station for about two hours.

Trains were single-tracking through the station without stopping during the closure, which prompted major delays on the Richmond to Millbrae and Richmond to Fremont lines.

BART officials set up a bus bridge for commuters along those routes during the station closure.

Details of why there was a person on the tracks were not immediately available.
