Death on Tracks Forces Hours-Long Closure of Downtown S.F. BART Station

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- BART's Powell Street station in San Francisco was closed for three hours Saturday after a person was struck and killed by a train, a BART spokeswoman said.

"We did have a person enter the trackway and, unfortunately, they died," BART spokeswoman Cheryl Stalter said.

"The coroner has come, the investigation is cleared," Stalter said.

Earlier Saturday morning, BART's 16th Street station in the city's Mission district was closed because of police activity. That station re-opened around 10:12 a.m., BART said.
