BART Station Agent Assaulted At Concord Station; Suspect Arrested

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A man with an outstanding warrant allegedly assaulted an employee at the Concord BART station on Wednesday afternoon while trying to dodge a fare, BART police said.

BART police Lt. Aaron Ledford said at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday a man attempted to enter through the station's emergency swing gates without paying.

With the gate's doors, the suspect hit a station agent who attempted to block him, Ledford said.

The employee did a citizen's arrest on the man, Ledford said. The employee later declined medical attention, despite pain complaints.

After the suspect was taken into custody, Ledford said it was discovered the man had an outstanding no-bail warrant.

The suspect, who was not identified, was booked into Martinez Detention Facility.
