Fight on Train and Platform Closes BART Station for 1 Hour
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- BART's MacArthur station in Oakland reopened after a fight Friday evening, which started on a train, closed the station for an hour, BART officials said.
As of 9:09 p.m., the station 555 40th St. was open and all trains were making stops there.
BART spokesman Chris Filippi said that at 7:50 p.m. two male victims approached police and said there was a fight on a Richmond-bound train. Filippi said the fight extended onto a platform at MacArthur station.
Police conducted an investigation. No arrests have been reported.
Filippi said the victims were treated for stabbing injuries not considered life-threatening.
Just today an emotional funeral was held in Oakland for Nia Wilson, 18, who was killed in a stabbing at the station on the night of July 22. Investigators are looking into whether the stabbing was a hate crime.
Wilson's death has garnered national attention.
