BART Issues Correction, Train Did Not Strike Pedestrian In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- BART officials said a train did not strike a person Sunday night between the Ashby and MacArthur stations.

The officials originally said a train did strike a person.

The incident was first reported at 9:10 p.m., BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.

A person was walking on the tracks between Ashby and MacArthur stations and a train operator reported that the train might have hit a person.

BART police have taken the person who was walking on the tracks into custody.

Normal service is recovering but some delays may exist, especially in downtown Oakland where the platforms have been crowded.
