BART Dublin Station Reopens After Police Detonate Suspicious Package Deemed Harmless

DUBLIN (CBS SF) -- BART's Dublin/Pleasanton station has reopened after a suspicious package found on the platform was detonated and deemed harmless Friday morning.

KCBS' Stan Bunger reports the package was allegedly someone's electronic device.

The station was closed at about 7:45 a.m. and trains were going to the West Dublin station and turning around.

As of 9:25 a.m., an Alameda County Sheriff's Office bomb squad detonated the package and determined it did not contain explosives, BART officials said.

The bomb squad cleaned up debris from the detonation and collected evidence from the platform before reopening the station shortly before 11 a.m., BART officials said.

The station closure was not affecting service on other lines, according to BART officials.

Trains were going to the West Dublin/Pleasanton station and turning around, BART officials said.

Buses transported passengers between the Dublin/Pleasanton and West Dublin/Pleasanton stations through the Wheels bus service operated by the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, BART officials said.
