16th Street BART Station In San Francisco Reopens Following Fatality On Tracks

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The 16th Street BART station in San Francisco reopened after a fatal incident involving a man caught under a train Friday evening, a transit spokeswoman said.

The emergency was reported at 7:22 p.m., according to BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost.

It's too soon to know how or why the victim ended up on the train tracks, but as of 8:30 p.m. he had been confirmed deceased, Trost said.

Police interviewed witnesses at the scene and there was no indication of foul play, according to Trost.

The station reopened around 9:32 p.m., Trost said. Passengers still experienced delays late into the evening but BART personnel were working to restore normal service.
