Still No Firm Date On Resuming Normal BART Service In East Bay

CONCORD (KCBS) -- Bay Area Rapid Transit officials said it's expected that normal service on the Pittsburg/Bay Point line will return soon, but there's still no firm date established.

Buses and train shuttles have been operating between the Pittsburg and North Concord stations since March 16th after voltage spikes damaged about 50 cars, the Contra Costa Times reported.

Many cars are crowded even when BART has the usual number of cars in service.

BART told the Times it is now moving refurbished cars to the Pittsburg-Bay Point line in anticipation of returning to normal service.

Riders can sign up for service advisories at www.bart.gov/alerts.
