BART Service Resumes In Berkeley, Man Suspected Of Walking On Tracks In Custody

BERKELEY (CBS SF) – BART police have taken a man into custody after he was allegedly walking on the tracks in Berkeley, stopping trains between the North Berkeley and Downtown Berkeley stations for about two hours Wednesday morning.

The problem was first reported around 10:15 a.m., prompting transit officials to set up parallel bus service between the El Cerrito Plaza and Ashby stations.

As of 11:50 a.m., however, the tracks had been cleared and BART officials are reporting that service restoration is underway. Passengers were told to still expect residual delays of about 10 minutes.
