Lawmakers Push For BART Link To Central Valley ACE Trains

LIVERMORE (KCBS) – Some East Bay and Central Valley politicians have begun a push to link BART to ACE Train Service, which runs from Stockton to San Jose.

KCBS, KPIX 5 and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier reported in Monday's Matier and Ross column, is to extend BART to Livermore, then create the link between the two services there.

Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty is leading the charge and has already secured $2.2 million in funding.

But BART is reportedly not interested in this project. At least one BART board director said the idea was considered and rejected years ago.

Haggerty said BART officials never gave the idea fair consideration.
