Baltimore's Machado Appears To Throw Bat At A's

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado made it clear over the weekend that he's no fan of the Oakland Athletics.

On Friday, Machado and A's third baseman Josh Donaldson had to be separated after Donaldson tagged the young Oriole more firmly than was appreciated. Here's what the original incident looked like:

The teams traded inside pitches and strong words for the rest of the weekend. Following another near bean-ball Sunday afternoon from Oakland left-hander Fernando Abad, Machado's bat went flying - in the direction of Alberto Callaspo, who was playing 3rd at the time for the A's. Here's what set off the on-the field shoving match Sunday:

"The bat slipped out of my hands," Machado said. "Trying to make contact and the umpire thought it was intentional and he tossed me at that point."

Abad was also excused for the rest of the afternoon. The A's took the game 11-1 and the series two games to one. They continue to boast the best record in the American League.
