Bait Bike Sting At Pleasant Hill BART Station Nabs 2 Suspects

PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -- BART officials say a "bait bike" sting at the Pleasant Hill BART station led to the arrest of two suspects, including one man known as a repeat offender, and the recovery of a stolen bicycle.

The suspects arrested included a man with multiple arrests on bicycle theft charges, according to Lt. Michael Hayes of the BART Police Department.

One of the suspects arrested was riding a bicycle that had previously been reported as stolen out of Davis. Police are now returning the bike to its original owner, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.

The bait bike was supplied by the San Francisco Police Department in a joint operation with BART police and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, Allison said.
