Astronaut Scott Kelly Sets U.S. Record For Most Time In Space
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Records are set everyday, but astronaut Scott Kelly just set one that is out of this world.
Friday marked Kelly's 383rd day living in space, the longest time any U.S. astronaut has ever spent outside Earth's atmosphere.
Kelly is commander of the Expedition 45 crew. By the end of this mission he will have spent 522 days living in space.
According to NASA, Kelly is on deck to break yet another record on October 29 when he surpasses Astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegrias for the "single-longest spaceflight by an American."
Kelly comes back to Earth on March 3, 2016.
