Arrest Made In San Francisco SoMa, Mission District Arsons

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – San Francisco police said Monday they have arrested a man allegedly responsible for a string of arsons in the city's Mission District and South of Market neighborhoods in October and November.

Michael Boyle, a 41-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested on Nov. 18 in connection with 11 arson fires that occurred between Oct. 26 and Nov. 18, police said.

Most of the fires were set in sidewalk garbage cans, but one was inside the lobby of a commercial bank and another in a camping tent. The latter incident caused a car to catch fire.

Investigators are looking into whether Boyle might be connected to other recent arsons in San Francisco.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at (415) 575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with "SFPD" at the beginning of the message.
