Armed Robbers Caught On Video Firing On SF Gas Station Clerk Running For His Life
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- Police are searching for two armed robbers who brazenly opened fire on a gas station clerk as he ran for his life.
Dramatic surveillance video shows the men walking into the gas station, both wearing dark hoodies. One of them pauses for quite a while and stares at the camera. Eventually, they walk up to the clerk and you clearly hear one of them rack a live round into the chamber of his semiautomatic pistol.
"They point the gun to the clerk and they ask to go for the safe," said Carlos Manfredi of the San Francisco Police. "Didn't waste any time, didn't want the cash register, wanted the safe."
The clerk quickly darted out the front door and ran through the parking lot, which police said was actually a good thing.
"These two gunmen then ran outside of the gas station, and you can see one of the gunmen wearing a Raiders sweatshirt take four shots at the fleeing victim as he's running for his life," said Manfredi.
The incident happened May 19 at 2:40 a.m.
Fortunately, the clerk was not hurt and the robbers never got any money. They drove away in a late model SUV.
The suspects are still on the loose. Police hope somebody will get a good look at their faces on the surveillance video and turn them in because they fear these bold robbers may strike again.
As for the clerk, he has had enough. He resigned his job at the gas station immediately following the incident. The danger just isn't worth it.
