Apple's Secretive Car Project Reportedly Gets Top Engineer From Other Signature Products

CUPERTINO (KCBS) -- Apple has reportedly put a new executive in charge of its automotive project who had a hand in the development of a number of signature Apple products, from the iMac to the MacBook Air to the iPad.

The Wall Street Journal reports people familiar with the matter say Bob Mansfield is now running the top-secret Apple car unit code-named Project Titan.

Neither Apple nor Mansfield confirmed the report.

Insiders tell the Journal that Apple now has hundreds of people working on the car project. The company has never publicly acknowledged any plans to build a car.
