Antioch Police Arrest Fleeing DUI Suspect Who Crashed Into Car, Light Pole

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A man was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing into a car and light pole and fleeing the scene in Antioch on Friday night.

Police said around 7:15 p.m., a 48-year-old man was driving near the intersection of A and West Third streets when he crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a car.

After the crash the man kept driving, only coming to a stop after
he hit a light pole and his car became disabled, police said. Police said he then exited the car and ran.

A 57-year-old Antioch woman and at least one other occupant in the other car were treated for complaints of pain at the scene and did not require hospital treatment, police said.

Officers located the driver who caused the crash at his Antioch home a short time later and arrested him for DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to county jail in Martinez.
