Dead Body Discovered After Sound Of Gunshot Leads To Police Chase In Antioch; 3 Arrested

ANTIOCH (KCBS)— Police in Antioch are investigating an apparent homicide that took place late Monday.

According to police, an officer on patrol heard a gunshot at 11:18 p.m. and saw a vehicle without its lights on driving away from Hudson Court. The officer tried to stop the vehicle but the car sped away and officer began a chase, police said.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into the garage of a home in the 1700 block of Mahogany Way in Antioch, according to police. No one in the home was injured.

When officers checked the area where they heard the gunshot, they found the body of a man with an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have detained the three people that drove away from Hudson Court. Shortly after that, police found a shotgun in the 1700 block of Somersville Road.

Area residents say a nearby two-story apartment complex is not safe and that often times they hear the sound of gunshots at night.
