Illegal Fireworks Spark 3-Alarm Grass Fire in Antioch

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Two houses were damaged in a three-alarm grass fire sparked by illegal fireworks in Antioch Friday evening.

The incident was reported at 6:20 p.m. in the 5000 block of Wagon Wheel Way, and had been upgraded to a third alarm by 6:35 p.m.

Two houses sustained roof damage, and firefighters said that wood shake roofs and gutters filled with leaves contributed to the fire's spread.

The fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damage and burned roughly one-half of an acre of vegetation. No injuries were reported.
