UPDATE: 68-Year-Old Woman Killed, 4 Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Antioch Crash

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A 68-year-old woman died and four people were hurt -- one critically -- in a three-vehicle collision early Tuesday afternoon in Antioch, police said.

A vehicle was speeding north on Somersville Road at 12:17 p.m. when it went through the intersection at Delta Fair Boulevard.

The vehicle crossed the center median and hit one and then two vehicles traveling south on Somersville Road, according to police.

Cellphone video from a witness captured the crash scene aftermath along the 2000 block of Somersville Road at the offramp from eastbound Highway 4 right outside a Denny's restaurant.

The street was strewn with debris and several wrecked vehicles. A yellow tarp was seen inside one of the wrecked vehicles.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. One of his passengers died and another suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

All three were from Antioch, according to police. The drivers of the southbound vehicles suffered minor injuries and have been released from hospitals.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the collision.

The crash forced the closure of offramps from both directions of Highway 4 at Somersville Road.  A separate injury crash on Highway 4 occurred within the backup caused by the original crash, KCBS Radio reported.

As of shortly before 2 p.m., CHP confirmed that the crash had been cleared and all lanes were open.
