Annual Cherry Blossom Festival Gets Underway In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- Thousands of people packed Japantown Saturday for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

The event celebrates the blooming of the cherry blossoms and is billed as the second largest festival of its kind in the United States. The biggest is in Washington D.C.

San Francisco's festival continues Sunday and again next weekend. There are traditional performances, food, and more.

The grand parade is Sunday, April 12.
