Animal Update: San Francisco A Safe Haven For Animals With Its Many Rescue Services

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Do you consider San Francisco to be one of the safest cities for pets in America? According to Dr. Jennifer Scarlett of the SF SPCA that's a fact and there are several different animal rescue outlets in the city to back up her claim.

"There is a network of breed-specific groups in San Francisco like German Sheppard rescue, Greyhound rescue, Wonder Dog Rescue, and even a pigeon rescue called MickaCoo," Scarlett said.

 

The SF SPCA works closely with this strong safety net offering veterinary services like spay and neuter. Scarlett said Animal Care and Control is on the same block making for quite an aggregate location of service for animals.

Earlier in 2014 the San Francisco Board of Supervisors even named that section of Alabama Street, Rescue Row.
