'Altered State Of Happiness:' Grateful Giants Fans Greet Team's Return To AT& Park After World Series Win

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Hundreds of Giants fans chanted "MVP" for pitcher Madison Bumgarner as the team buses rolled in at AT&T Park early Thursday morning, after the team's red-eye flight from Kansas City following the Giants World Series victory.

Most of those who showed up to greet the four charter buses as they drove in about 4:45 a.m. had arrived before midnight and hadn't slept since Tuesday night.

The first person who came off the bus was Giants CEO Larry Baer, who cradled the World Series trophy in his arms and then marched it around for the screaming fans to see.

More Giants News:

"I think we're all still in a trance, you know. I think getting off the bus but we didn't need an airplane to fly us home, that's for sure," Baer said. "The plane was just giddy. Everybody was just sort of in an altered state of happiness and euphoria and you know what? They got it done."

Much to the fans' disappointment, however, none of the players came out to greet them - unlike previous World Series wins in 2010 and 2014 when when some of them did.

Tim Hudson and Madison Bumgarner waved to fans from their cars as they drove away. But fans said they understood the players may have been too drained after a seven-game series and the late flight home. Fans will wait to see their heroes again Friday at the victory parade down Market Street scheduled to begin at noon.
