8-Year-Old Boy Abducted In Car Stolen Outside Fairfield Family's Home Found Safe

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A boy who was abducted in Fairfield early Monday morning, prompting the California Highway Patrol to issue an Amber Alert, has been found safe.

Brock Guzman had last been seen at about 4:45 a.m. inside his parents' silver Toyota Corolla, which was taken while it was idling in the driveway of their home, according to police.

"(I was) scared, crazy. It was my son, my baby," said Brock's father, Paul Guzman, when his wife told him the car was missing while it was left unattended for about 30 seconds.

Paul said his son was still asleep when the suspect stole the car. Shortly after, he woke up, noticed someone else was sleeping, then fell back asleep again. The suspect said he didn't realize a child was in the car, prompting him to park the car and leave, according to Paul.

The car was later spotted by a neighbor with Brock inside still sleeping and unharmed, according to the CHP.

"It's absolutely a learning experience," said Brock's mother Susan Guzman, who was headed to work in Petaluma. "None of us are perfect and thank goodness that we have him."

The suspect in the case remains at large. A bicycle was left at the scene of the abduction and police are asking for the public's help in identifying its owner.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Fairfield police at (707) 428-7300.
