Alleged Carjacking Suspects Arrested After Oakland Crash

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Police in Oakland apprehended two carjacking suspects Thursday evening after a chase that ended in a rollover crash and a foot pursuit leading to the arrest.

The two suspects apparently tried stealing a vehicle a little earlier Thursday evening.

Officers responded to the 5100 block of Shafter Avenue at 4:37 p.m. to take a report, then spotted the vehicle in the 4800 block of Telegraph Avenue about 10 minutes later.

The driver failed to yield to a traffic stop, then led officers on a pursuit before crashing in the vicinity of Broadway Terrace and Highway 13. A man and woman fled the scene on foot, police said.

Officers contacted the suspects after setting up a perimeter around the 5800 block of Pinewood Road. They surrendered without incident.

No one was injured but two other vehicles were damaged during the chase.
