Alicia Keys, Solange & More React To Dakota Access Pipeline Decision
By Annie Reuter
(RADIO.COM) – Supporters of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe rejoiced on Sunday, December 4th when it was revealed that the Army Corp of Engineers will look for an alternate route for the Dakota Access Pipeline. For months, many musicians and celebrities spoke out in favor of the tribe by writing letters to the White House on how the building of a pipeline could contaminate the reservation's water supply.
Several musicians shared their excitement with Sunday's announcement. While Chance the Rapper described the defenders of Standing Rock as "American heroes," Alicia Keys noted, "victory for us all!!!"
So much respect and honor to/for you and your victory #standingrock #NoDAPL https://t.co/ysLk6QGx2q

While many are celebrating today, the decision may not be the final one advocates warn.
"We are asking our supporters to keep up the pressure, because while President Obama has granted us a victory today, that victory isn't guaranteed in the next administration," Dallas Goldtooth, lead organizer for the Indigenous Environmental Network, said in a statement. "More threats are likely in the year to come, and we cannot stop until this pipeline is completely and utterly defeated, and our water and climate are safe."
