Airplane Crashes Into Barbed Wire Fence At Angwin Airport

ANGWIN, Napa County (CBS SF) -- An airplane crashed at the Angwin Airport Sunday afternoon, a Napa County sheriff's official said.

Deputies responded to a report of an accident involving a plane at Angwin Airport located at 1 Angwin Ave. shortly before 1 p.m., Napa County sheriff's acting Sgt. David Ackman said.

A 1951 single prop Beechcraft plane carrying an 82-year-old man had overshot the runway and crashed into a barbed wire fence, according to Ackman.

The man was the only person inside the plane and was not injured in the accident, Ackman said.

The airport houses the aviation program at Pacific Union College.

Ackman said the National Transportation Safety Board has been called to investigate the incident.
