After Sidecar Agreement With SFO Airport, Lyft And Uber Follow Suit
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)_ Almost a week after announcing a deal with Sidecar to serve San Francisco International, SFO airport officials have announced similar agreements with Lyft and Uber.
The pilot permit allows drivers from the Transportation Network Companies (TNC) to pick up and drop off at SFO with the ride service companies paying the airport $3.85 cents per ride.
Both companies expect to begin operations at the airport within the next 30 days.
"We are committed to be an industry leader, creating a roadmap for innovative business models like Lyft and UberX to operate legally in an airport," said Airport Director John L. Martin.
SFO is the first airport in California and only second in the U.S. to sign such a deal.
