Adult Recess-Day Activities Overtake Oakland's Frank Ogawa Plaza

OAKLAND (KCBS)— Recess isn't just for kids anymore— it's for grown-ups too— at least for a day at Oakland's City Hall.

For the kids at heart, they had a chance to partake in Friday's Adult-Recess day festivities as declared by Oakland's Parks and Recreation Department. As a result, Frank Ogawa Plaza was transformed with a climbing wall, a volleyball court, tug-of-war, video games and more for city workers to play with during their lunch hours or from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fred Morris almost made it to the top of the climbing wall. He came down winded, but happy.

"We work every day from 9 to 5. We need to release some of the stress. This is the best way for us to come out and fraternize with our co-workers and have a great time," said Morris.

KCBS' Doug Sovern competed in the bouncy yoga ball race, which didn't end so well.

Other activities included. Zumba, double dutch and a zen zone.
