Actor Charlie Sheen Talks Openly About Being HIV Positive

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Actor Charlie Sheen has publicly confirmed he has HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

The actor said he tested positive four years ago, but said he is healthy.

The former "Two & a Half Men" star made the announcement on NBC's Today Show, Tuesday.

He told Matt Lauer it all started when he began having headaches.

"I thought I had a brain tumor," Sheen said. "I thought it was over. After a battery of tests and spinal taps, [my doctors] said this is what's going on. I am here to admit that I am in fact HIV-positive."

He said he has told all his sexual partners about his condition and admitted he had unprotected sex with 2 people who were "warned ahead of time."

Sheen said he has paid millions in extortion money to people who blackmailed him. He said one prostitute threatened to sell pictures of the HIV drugs in his medicine cabinet to the tabloids.
