9-Year-Old Oakland Girl Shot In Front Yard Is Paralyzed
OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- The mother of an Oakland 9-year-old girl who was shot in the neck from a stray bullet says her daughter is paralyzed.
Sylvia Funes said Friday that her daughter, Jacqueline Funes, remains hospitalized in critical condition a week after she was shot and is paralyzed from the neck down.
The mother said that her daughter will undergo therapy to hopefully use her hands and gain some mobility, adding it's going to be a long process.
Oakland Police Capt. Steven Tull said that police were still asking the community for any information about the two men who fired more than 10 rounds and shot the girl while she was playing with her younger brother in their front yard in east Oakland on May 16.
Jacqueline turned 9 on May 18.
Another man was also injured in the shooting.
