8 West Oakland Construction Workers Robbed At Gunpoint

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A crew renovating an Oakland apartment building was held up in the middle of the afternoon Monday.

The 8-man team was working on a vacant building on 23rd Street, underneath Interstate 980, when four suspects approached and took their wallets, phones and cash, according to the Contra Costa Times.

According to the newspaper, at least three of the men were carrying guns when they carried out the crime around 2:45 p.m. The suspects then fled in a car, but a vehicle description was not available.

Construction workers were robbed at several job sites in East Oakland last summer, sometimes at gunpoint.

Most of those robberies targeted private contractors remodeling houses.
