8-Month-Old Infant Rushed To Antioch Hospital After Possibly Drowning

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- An 8-month-old infant was rushed to the hospital after possibly drowning Wednesday afternoon in Antioch, a fire official said.

Emergency medical crews responded at 1:15 p.m. to a report of a possible drowning in the 4000 block of Delta Fair Boulevard, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Robert Marshall said.

Crews arrived to find several bystanders performing CPR on the child, who was transported to Sutter Delta Medical Center, Marshall said.

As of around 3:30 p.m., Marshall said he did not know whether the child survived. The infant's gender was not immediately available.

A call to Antioch police about the case was not immediately returned.
