70-Year Sentence For Menlo Park Sex Tourist On 35th Trip To Cambodia

MENLO PARK (AP) -- Authorities say a Menlo Park man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for traveling to Cambodia to have sex with young girls.

The U.S. attorney in Los Angeles said in a statement Monday that four girls who ranged from ages 8 to 11 when they were victimized testified at the six-week trial of Ronald Boyajian. One of them testified the 55-year-old had treated her like she wasn't human.

Officials say Boyajian paid pimps and impoverished relatives for access to the girls.

They say he was on his 35th trip to Cambodia in nine years when he was arrested in 2009. He had resumed the trips shortly after completing his parole on previous convictions for sex with a minor in 1995.
