7.0 Magnitude Rocks Indonesian Coast
NEBE, Indonesia (CBS SF) -- A strong earthquake shook the Flores Sea off the coast of Indonesia Friday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake measured magnitude 7.0 and struck at a depth of 553 kilometers at 5:45 a.m. PST.
The quake was centered under the ocean 113 kilometers north of Nebe, Indonesia. People from as Dili, Dili and Kuta, Bali reported feeling severe shaking.
An earthquake this size can cause considerable damage in substantial buildings with partial collapse and even shift structures off foundations.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has not issued a tsunami threat from this earthquake.
