6 Hospitalized In SF Crash
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Six people, including a pedestrian, were transported to the hospital with injuries Sunday afternoon after a driver ran a red light in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, a police sergeant said.
The crash was reported at the intersection of Seventh and Harrison streets at about 4:20 p.m., San Francisco police Sgt. Danielle Newman said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a vehicle was traveling west on Seventh Street and ran a red light at Harrison Street. The vehicle collided with a second vehicle before driving up onto a sidewalk, according to Newman.
Once on the sidewalk, the vehicle struck two trees, a building and a pedestrian, Newman said.
Fire officials initially reported that seven people were transported to the hospital, but Newman confirmed that a total of six people were transported to the hospital.
The police sergeant said those who were transported to San Francisco General Hospital suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.
The collision remains under investigation.
