5 Capitola Middle School Students Arrested After Making Gun Threats On Social Media

CAPITOLA (KCBS)-- Five Capitola middle school students have been arrested after messages on social media about shooting students were discovered.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports a parent of one of the students at New  Brighton Middle School discovered an Instagram message from their son about a potential shooting attack at the school on Monday.

The parent contacted the school's principal who then notified police.  Investigators say no weapons were found amongst the students involved.

The seventh graders were arrested on suspicion of felony threats and conspiracy.
