$5 Adoptions! Big Dogs Piling Up At East Bay Animal Shelters

MARTINEZ (KCBS) -- Big dogs are creating crowded conditions at Contra Costa County animal shelters, and shelter officials are hoping some animal lovers will take advantage of a special offer to adopt them.

The County Animal Services Department is obligated to take in all strays that come their way, according to shelter spokesperson David Burdo.

The shelter is offering big dog adoptions for just $5 until May 7th.

"That's a savings of anywhere between $100 to $170," Burdo said.

Despite the deal, there have been few takers.
